This playlist documents the remarkable story of how many of Brooklands Museum's most important exhibits were recovered, transported and preserved over more than 40 years. These videos provide a unique behind-the-scenes record of the work required to save aircraft, vehicles and other important artefacts for future generations.
Many of the exhibits featured are now among Brooklands Museum's best-known attractions, but before they could be displayed they first had to be located, recovered, transported by road and in some cases flown, before being carefully installed on site.
These videos showcase the skills of Britain's recovery industry, heavy haulage specialists, preservation volunteers and engineers, many working together to save important pieces of transport and aviation history. Much of the footage was filmed from locations inaccessible to the public and documents operations that can never be repeated.
